"My experience here can be summed up as an endless search for “home”"

Our association organizes a variety of engaging events throughout the year, from cultural showcases to educational workshops and community outreach programs. These events provide members with the opportunity to immerse themselves in African and Caribbean traditions, expand their knowledge, and make meaningful connections within the vibrant student community.

The ACSA is committed to not only representing the African and Caribbean students in Groningen but also to create an environment where our community and its members have the opportunity to express themselves freely and authentically.

The African diaspora is made up of a multitude of communities all over the world. Although we all come from different backgrounds and our identities are made up of many intersections, we must rejoice in our differences and come together. Together we are able to create opportunities to step away from a singular perspective, and take pleasure in the richness of our nuanced perspectives. And together we are able to find joy in celebrating and supporting each other.

Our goal is to cultivate strong, meaningful bonds with one another and to organize social as well as educational events, and to present opportunities for change that benefit our community.

We aim to empower and uplift each other in our search for “home” herein Groningen. Although we might be few in number, we stand strong in community.

On behalf of the 2024/2025 ACSA board, let this academic year be filled with laughter, good times, endless possibilities and growth. We look forward to meeting you all!
